Artificial Grass Installation Process

Step #1 – Select your Grass Range
We have a wide range of synthetic grass available specifically for our Cape Town climate.

We stock a wide range of artificial grass for all different types of applications. Being one of the largest suppliers of fake grass in Caep Town, you can be guaranteed that we will have a product range that suits your budget.

Step #2 – Preparing the Base
We begin the installation process by firstly removing the existing earth, dirt, or sand down to the required depth, clearing out any unwanted plants, rocks and vegetation as we go.

We then install brick (interlock) edging around the entire perimeter of the chosen area. This brick will not be visible once the turf has been laid, rather it will act as a firm edge upon which to glue the grass. This will keep your turf securely fastened to the ground. We then water, compact, and level the remaining soil. We do this so that we have a solid, smooth base to work with when adding the additional layers that sit beneath your artificial grass.

Step #3 – Weed Barrier (Optional)
Specially chosen geotextile membrane to prevent the growth of weeds. The Artificial Grass Company installers then apply and fit the weed barrier on the aggregate base.

This specially chosen geotextile membrane sheet is in place to prevent the growth of weeds across the whole base of the artificial grass area which causes problems down the line.

Step #4 – Aggregate Sub Base
We then install a crushed rock aggregate (a mixture of small rocks and stones) to form the new base. This provides added stability and sufficient drainage underneath the fake grass, while at the same time acting as a further barrier to the growth of troublesome weeds.

The Artificial Grass Company installation team builds a crushed rock aggregate base across the whole area where the artificial grass lawn is to be fitted.

We then compacts the area using its specialist range of equipment, including a screed bar, to ensure a perfect level across the garden area as well as an industrial compactor. This provides a strong, durable and professionally levelled base for precise installation of an artificial grass area.

Step #5 – Concrete Borders
Our 5th step includes adding in concrete borders. This is a none decorate feature and purely used for safety purposes as it gives the area a solid surface to glue the edges to.

Step #6 – Fitting the Artificial Grass
The installation team supplies and fits either your Lushes Range or Emporer Range artificial grass you selected. Our professionals apply the same joining methods for domestic gardens as used by all synthetic grass specialists.

Strong and durable glue used for all the edges, the expertly mixed first grade glue is applied to ensure a perfect base placement of the artificial grass. Carefully and precisely close all seams, our professionals ensure all seams are expertly closed. A professional joint ensures a durable, visibly seamless finish that will never come apart.

Step #7 – Applying Silica Sand Infill (optional)
To provide exceptional stability and protection of the entire installation, a white silica sand infill is applied with a special blower and then mechanically brushed on the artificial grass. This product is an essential part of the installation process. The silica sand not only maintains the lawn, it also ensures it will remain stabilised and prevents it moving or ripping when exposed to extremely hot weather.
